NearMeet has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, abuse, and inappropriate behaviour. This article explains exactly how our safety tools work โ€” so you know what happens when you report someone, and why it matters.

How to Report Someone

Reporting takes less than 10 seconds. Here's how:

1๏ธโƒฃ

Open the Profile or Chat

Go to the profile of the person you want to report, or open the chat thread with them.

2๏ธโƒฃ

Tap the โ‹ฏ Menu

Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the profile or chat screen.

3๏ธโƒฃ

Select "Report"

Choose a reason โ€” harassment, inappropriate content, spam, fake profile, or other.

4๏ธโƒฃ

Submit

Your report is submitted instantly. You can optionally add a note to give our team more context.

โœ… All reports are reviewed by our safety team within 24 hours. Serious violations are escalated immediately.

How to Block Someone

Blocking is immediate and permanent (unless you unblock). When you block someone:

To block: open their profile โ†’ tap โ‹ฏ โ†’ tap "Block". Done.

The Violation System

When a report is reviewed and confirmed, the reported user enters our violation system. It works in three escalating levels:

โš ๏ธ

Level 1 โ€” Warning

The user receives a formal in-app warning. The violation is logged against their account. They can continue using the app but are on notice.

๐Ÿ”’

Level 2 โ€” Temporary Suspension

Repeat violations result in a temporary suspension. The user cannot log in for a set period. The duration increases with each offence.

๐Ÿšซ

Level 3 โ€” Permanent Ban

Serious single violations or patterns of abuse result in a permanent ban tied to the user's phone number. They cannot create a new account with the same number.

What Counts as a Violation?

Why Reporting Helps Everyone

Every report you submit โ€” even if it turns out to be a misunderstanding โ€” helps our team understand patterns of behaviour on the platform. The more the community reports, the faster bad actors are identified and removed. Reporting is not just self-protection โ€” it's community protection.
